| 47405 started life as one of the 20 'Generators' in January 1963 as D1504. Was given its TOPS number of 47405 in Feb 1974. It was the first of the Generators to be withdrawn in 1986 and only the 6th Class 47 to be withdrawn.
47405 was named 'Northumbria' in 1982. I've picked 47405 to adopt for the website as of all the class 47's I had a fondness for the early batch of 20 and I have aquired the full Crewe Works history for this locomotive from its first visit on 13/09/74 for Classified Repairs to 18/02/1987 when 2 of its axels were reclaimed. The loco being cut up in December 1988.
